Time-Saving Tips
By Lydia Rule
Here’s a short list of writing tips to help you fit writing into your daily life!
1) Prioritize. Do you spend too much time on TV, online, etc.?
2) Make a list of your writing goals. What is something you would like to see happen in your writing career? Keep your goals reachable (i.e. don’t shoot for your book to be a best-seller and be made into a movie all in one year!).
3) Find time to write- either early in the morning, sometime in the afternoon, or late at night (personally, I have a hard time with the “early in the morning” option… and of course, it’s always my alarm clock’s fault.)
4) Write little bits at a time. If you happen to have time in between brushing your teeth and heading out to work, type a few paragraphs of your story (although, you might want to finish brushing your teeth first. People will appreciate it more and it is really hard to type and brush at the same time… toothpaste on the keys makes a rather sticky mess to clean up later!). You’ll be surprised just how a few minutes here and there can help you finish your book.
5) Always save your work. Nothing will put you behind more in your writing than losing what you’ve already finished! Take a few minutes to put your work onto a CD, or e-mail your stories as an attachment to yourself.
