Some random thoughts on writing

This past week, I've had an acceptance for one of my articles (soon to be published in Fundsforwriters) and a rejection for one of my book proposals.

You win some, you lose some. But the important thing about writing is that you don't throw away your pen (of course, I always end up losing my pens so there are never any around when I need them).

Writing is like art. It takes awhile before someone realizes your painting's worth.

I think God wanted me to be a writer in order to teach me one thing: Patience. You see, patience is not something I possess a whole lot of. If I had my way, my books would be printed, turned into a movie, and be bought by a million people all in one day.

But writing doesn't work that way. You've got to climb the mountain first to appreciate the view. And when you reach the mountaintop of publishing, you'll enjoy it that much more for all your efforts.

What a nice blog, Lydia! One also has to appreciate not only the climb but the valleys to appreciate the mountain view. The wonderful thing is that we are never alone. 1 Kings 20:28.
